Soundscapes
Artistic residency
at the Crogny forestry high school
With sound artist and composer Vivien Trelcat
The project invites young people to discover musical creation through listening and sonic experimentation. Starting from the themes of nature and solidarity, they learn to listen closely to their surroundings: recording the sounds of the forest, landscapes and materials; exploring sound instruments and tools; transforming, combining, inventing.
Guided by the artist, the students compose their own sound pieces, somewhere between music, storytelling and imagined landscape. This collective experience invites them to listen to the world differently, create together, and share their discoveries through sound.
As part of this project, Vivien Trelcat led:
Workshops for 3 classes during the two weeks of the residency.
Open workshops, on a voluntary basis, for all the school's students.
Presentation and discussion sessions for all classes.
Community outreach activities (in connection with primary education, local associations, and seniors).
To conclude this project, we organized a public presentation open to everyone. It took the form of a sound walk in the lush Arboretum de Crogny, on the occasion of Sunday in the Countryside, on April 26, 2026.
The students' sound creation is available here to listen and to watch the video made during a workshop, click here.
The artist residency is a scheme for artistic and cultural education funded by the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs Grand Est (DRAC) and pass Culture. With the support of the Regional Directorate for Food, Agriculture and Forestry Grand Est (DRAAF), Campus Terres de l’Aube, and Césaré, National Center for Musical Creation in Reims.
