Residence and Creation Stage with Arnaud Rivière

Césaré – CNCM, Reims welcomes Arnaud Rivière for a creation residency for his project 4x4. An artist specializing in sound exploration and improvised music, Arnaud develops a unique approach to space and sound, which he wishes to deepen during this residency.

The project 4x4 takes its name from the particular configuration of the speakers (quadraphony) that he uses: arranged in a line rather than in the four corners, they allow for playing with sound color and spatialization, creating an immersive and sensitive experience for the listener. This creation stage will provide the public with the opportunity to discover the design process live, to observe the trials, adjustments, and innovations of the artist, before the finalization of the project.

This residency offers the public rare access to the heart of musical creation, where every step is a discovery and every sound an exploration.

Arnaud Rivière

Since the early 2000s, Arnaud Rivière has been developing a unique and abundant practice of experimental music, exploring sound through concerts, performances, installations, videos, and collective devices. A craftsman of deliberately primitive electronics, he manufactures and repurposes his tools to prioritize gesture, energy, and physical engagement, in noisy performances where intensity, humor, and rupture mingle, somewhere between drama and comedy. Playing both solo and within numerous collaborations and ensembles, he has performed in countless international contexts and has worked with many figures from the experimental scene. Alongside his artistic work, he designs installations, leads educational projects around sound and feedback, and has long been invested in the dissemination and organization of events dedicated to sound practices, notably as a co-founder of the Sonic Protest festival.
