Come meet Ensemble 0 in residence at the Césaré studios and discover their project "Drums" currently in creation.

Ensemble 0

Its starting point is an orchestration of the electronic piece Drums by Laurie Spiegel. This American composer, a pioneer of the experimental scene of the 70s, released the album The Expanding Universe in 1980, which includes this impressive piece known for its modernity and minimalist rigor. Its reinterpretation by today's instrumentalists - a unique adaptation by ensemble 0 - is an opportunity to shed light on the work of this important artist who has withdrawn from the world of music.

The program will also include an original piece by Mica Levi, a non-binary artist based in London whose recent works include Central, Slasher, Making Love/Kochajmy Sie, and Rat on The Net. Mica works as a solo musician and a member of the bands Good Sad Happy Bad, Spresso, and the CURL collective. They are also known for their film scores such as The Zone of Interest, Monos, Jackie and Under The Skin.

To this repertoire will be added a commission to the Canadian-American musician Claire Rousay, also for percussion, lasting about 25 minutes. She, now based in Los Angeles, has been known since 2020 for her raw-sounding ambient music, blending acoustic instruments with recordings of her daily life, sometimes captured with a simple phone.
