On stage, a strange device: the magnetonium. With these portable tape recorders and his effects pedals, Nicolas Thirion improvises a captivating live set using cassettes (audio tapes) collected (traditional music, world pop, conversations) or prepared by himself (drones, noises, blips). By mixing, looping, and manipulating these magnetic tapes, the artist invents a fascinating hybrid approach, at the crossroads of an ambient DJ set, musique concrète, and noise. A true sonic alchemy.
