IFS

IFS is a system of multiple sound sources interacting with each other. Some are electronic, others are acoustic, coming from a variety of instruments and resonant objects. Whether they go through contact microphones or not, these sources intertwine to form a hybrid, dense, and fluid sound material.

Lucien Rapilly has been working for about fifteen years in the field of music computing through the graphical programming software Pure Data. He has recently turned to Faust, particularly drawn by the possibilities offered by this language for signal processing and sound synthesis through physical modeling. These new possibilities have led to the development of an unprecedented device, allowing the addition of an amplification dimension to acoustic instruments, thus opening up new sound spaces that are more intense and immersive. However, we still maintain the possibility of playing acoustically to preserve a wide range of contrasts.

During this residency at Césaré, we wish to continue the development of this device and to establish its potential through a recording work.
