Les percussions de la montagne verte
Les Percussions de la Montagne Verte are presented as a face-to-face meeting with four heads, 35 machines, 185 cables, and a drum set (!). But it is mainly a meeting space between the Great International Triple Alliance of the East and the collectif Travail Rythmique.
Created six years ago by Cheb Samir, Manuel Zenner, and Baptiste Filippi, initially as an instrumental project, the group has since been enriched by the voice of Cristina Cusimano (aka Maria Violenza).
The music of the quartet arises from an eclectic assembly of acoustic devices, augmented drum machines, vinyl turntables, and homemade instruments. All these devices, intentionally rudimentary, interconnect, disturb, and respond to shape an electronic material that is both narrative and abstract.
Pop structures emerge and then crash against sharp gestures, in a shifting, tortuous, and inevitably green psychedelia.
The members of the Percussions can be found in numerous projects that have contributed — and continue to contribute — to forge this sound and this unique approach from the hexagonal East like Crack Und Ultra Eczema, PPaulus & Frère, Delacave, Capputtini I Lignu, The Normals, Trans Upper Egypt, Groupe de Lecture, The John Merricks, and of course Maria Violenza.
