Taja Mûju Suru

Taja Mûju Suru extends an artistic research conducted during an extended research stay (MIRA grant, French Institute) in Japan in 2024, enriched by a vast collection of sounds captured in iconic places imbued with spirituality: Mount Kurama, Arashiyama, the millennium-old temples and Zen gardens of Kyoto, Mount Mûro, Ise Jingu, Nikkō, and the island of Shikoku… As well as in the landscapes of daily life, those of a profane Japan, crossed by the noise of the world: bustling shopping alleys, izakayas overflowing with voices, Tokyo subway stations, urban environments saturated with signs.

From this raw and contrasting sound material, the project gives birth to an immersive electroacoustic work, oscillating between the sacred and the profane, nature and urban saturation, reality and imagination.

The residency at Césaré is a key step to deepen the multichannel spatialization and finalize a form of immersive listening, conceived not as a faithful restitution of places, but as an invitation to bring forth sensitive and mental inner landscapes.
