Becoming Mutants

Conceived by composer Sasha J. Blondeau with author and documentarian Adila Bennedjaï-Zou, Devenir|s Mutant·es is a hybrid musical project centered around experiences of mutation — both endured and chosen. In the spirit of a live podcast, the piece brings together three voices — Balla Fofana, Treize·s, and Sasha J. Blondeau — whose trajectories cross and echo one another. An instrumental chorus responds to their stories, creating a two-level dramaturgy. Drawing from situated histories, the work explores the processes of assignment and transformation, bypassing expected narratives to make room for multiple becomings.
